Often, people ask, How did the idea for Brevity first come about?”  Editor Dinty W. Moore can be rather evasive on the subject, but we do know he read a lot of comic books as a boy, and probably saw this advertisement multiple times:

    If that is a picture of you Dinty, then you probably inspired me too. LOL, but only if that is your picture.

  • short paragraphs rule. Many people have short attention spans, so brevity is always best.

    I saw Benson Barrett’s entire “how to” package. It was factual but not practical — i.e., too much work involved in mailing, etc. It’s better now with computers, at least no stamps to buy, and you can write fillers but you won’t get rich doing it. I’m a professional writer, my books are on Amazon.com (latest novel is WHILE THE ANGELS SLEPT) and my best advice if you want to be a writer is to enter contests, join a writers’ club, take a creative writing class, and just go for it.
