Happy University Press Week

Here at Brevity we are fond of just about everyone who toils in the fields of publishing, because we know just how hard editors and publishers work, but this week we are especially fond of our friends working at university presses, because it is University Press Week. Hooray for Nebraska,Iowa, Ohio, Georgia, and all the rest of the fine presses being recognized.
The Association of American University Presses reminds us that “AAUP member presses produce more than 12,000 works per year, in both print and digital form; AAUP membership alone comprises 133 scholarly presses, found in places ranging from Abilene to Toronto, from Kalamazoo to Hong Kong,” publishing “everything from Christian thought to the geophysics of fracking, from forensic psychiatry to pre-Columbian history, and from poetry to the economics of food.”
Meanwhile, at the recently saved University of Missouri Press an anonymous donor is matching all gifts up to a total of $10,000. The press website details how our supporters can participate and includes a list of membership benefits.
