iw2The New York Times reports that, the sister of Chris McCandless, the central figure in Jon Krakauer’s stunning book of literary journalism, Into the Wild, has written her own memoir of her brother and the “dysfunctional” McCandless family.

“In the decades since Chris’s death, my half-siblings and I have come together to find our own truth and build our own beauty in his absence,” she said. “In each other, we’ve found absolution, as I believe Chris found absolution in the wild before he died.”

HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins, said it would release the book,  The Wild Truth, in fall 2014.
